Easter means new life and beauty

Easter is first and foremost the story of the rising to life of Jesus, after the power of hatred and vested interests had crucified him on Good Friday.

We all love symbols - things we can see that remind us of the things we believe. A garden is a symbol of both death (the little tomb, the bare earth) and new life (the flowers growing where there seemed to be nothing). And eggs have for thousands of years, probably long before Christianity, been symbols of new life.

So we had both in church on Easter Sunday, to remind us that God brings life and light and love where there was death and darkness and hate.
