Make a Noise for Bedlington

The churches, including Trinity, were well represented at "Make a Noise for Bedlington", a public demonstration of solidarity for our town on Saturday 2nd May.

About 2,000 people gathered in the Market Place and on the stroke of St Cuthbert's clock at noon, we made a noise! We whistled, we banged drums, we blew trumpets and tubas, we clapped.

All to show the 'powers that be' that we love our town and we're fed up that it is being turned into a dormitory, with plenty of planning permission for houses, but no facilities for the people who will live in them - or the people who live here now. Shops are closing, buildings stand half finished - there isn't even a public toilet that's not locked!

It was a fantastic atmosphere and a real point was made. Let's hope something happens!
