Bloomin' Bedlin'ton Trinity!

Bloomin Bedlin'ton Trinity!

As in previous years, the town of Bedlington entered the 'Britain in Bloom' competition, in th hope of gaining a Gold Award. A very small, but very busy and hard-working band of people labour to fill tubs, beds and planters with flowers, and the gardens team of Northumberland County Council do their best to make beautiful the main beds on the roundabouts and around the War Memorial.

This year a group of very crafty people called Bedlington Creatives added their skills, covering the shuttered front of the old supermarket with crocheted sunflowers and banners, as well as decorating the Baedling Manor care home with knitted floral bunting and an amazing knitted 'water feature'.

The folks of Trinity played their part too, with a banner with the town's name in knitted flowers and strings of knitted and crocheted flowers decorating the railings.

To make everyone feel welcome on 'Judging Day' the Trinity folks opened the church and served tea, coffee, home-made cakes and biscuits as well as welcome smiles and chat.

Although the judges couldn't stay to sample the refreshments, they did enjoy the welcome, and quite a few other people popped in to rest, chat and warm up on a rather damp morning.
