Church life

On Sunday 11th June we welcomed a visitor from the island of Madeira.

For a number of years, our Trinity friend Ted Walton has been visiting his time-share in Madeira, and supporting a Children's Home project there called Aldeia de Paz.

In 1994 by the Owner Relations office of the Madeira Beach Club started a weekly quiz night, with donations from the members going to support the Children's Home by purchasing equipment.

In 2009 a second phase of the project began, to support young people when they have to leave the home at age 18, when life gets very difficult without the support of family.

This work continues, with the project supporting young people through apprenticeships, professional training, and providing the transport necessary to take up these opportunities.

The Project Co-ordinator, Joao-Carlos Spinola, who is Head of Guest Relations at Pestana Vacation Clup on Madeira, visited Ted and came to Trinity and spoke to the congregation about the project.

Here is a picture of Ted with Joao-Carlos, and some pictures of the project.
